Mia, that is great to be shown with Darger! I wish I could have seen it. I remember my first encounter with Darger was at a huge exhibit on “Self-Taught Artists of the 20th Century” in Ft. Worth, Tx. It was a great show, but I remember going around a corner into a room totally devoted to Darger. I distinctly recall thinking to myself . . . “this is it! This is the greatest art I have beheld.” They had massive drawings that took up the whole wall full of his “Vivian Girls.” And this brings me back to your painting . . . your Rage Cum figure suggested to me a corrupted and seething Vivian Girl. By the way, I can not tell you just how important it is for you to watch the documentary about Darger. It is one of my favorite docs . . . you also need to watch, if you haven’t already, Marwencol ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marwencol ).

yes it really was cool! The art show was in Brooklyn, NY. I wish I could have been there in person to look at all the wonderful art.. I have never seen his art in real life.

I know that feeling, when you feel overwhelmed and in awe in front of art… that happened to me when I saw the art of Frida Kahlo in Stockholm as a teenager, or the big Cindy Sherman show a few years back.. but also when I stood in front of the old gothic masters at the Louvre in 2013… I am an idea historian and I use to study the religious art from that time so it was amazing to see it live..

I will try to find all the documentaries that you have told me about, I’m just not into downloading stuff, but I will try to find them 🙂

and you have to watch “LET THERE BE LIGHT” about Edvardr Munch and the Scream!

I know you mentioned “Let There Be Light” once before, but I can’t remember if you had info about where or how to see it. If you do, I’d appreciate it because a cursory search on the internets didn’t come up with much for me.
By the way, another “ah ha” moment for me was when, years ago, I visited the Munch Museum in Oslo. This was way before the theft. My visit was about 30 years ago! Geez, Mia, my advice to you . . . don’t grow old!

haha I WILL NEVER GROW OLD in my soul, I think that is impossible 🙂 my ex was older than me and he tried to make me act like an old person too – it almost killed me.
